Case Study: Blind Momentum

Running Toward the Impossible

The Project

Blind Momentum is a feature-length documentary that follows writer, speaker, and rare disease advocate Laura King Edwards on an extraordinary journey to break the world record for the fastest blindfolded half marathon by a woman—ten years after running her first race in honor of her blind sister, Taylor.

This deeply personal and visually powerful film explores the intersection of grief, resilience, and purpose, and invites audiences to consider what it truly means to keep moving forward—against all odds.

The Story

In 2006, Laura’s younger sister Taylor was diagnosed with Batten disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder. Over the years, Laura and her family became relentless advocates, raising millions for research and reshaping policy. But in 2018, Taylor passed away.

Now, five years later—and one year after major reconstructive ankle surgery—Laura is training to run blindfolded once more. But this time, she’s chasing a world record.

Blind Momentum documents Laura’s physical and emotional journey, capturing her training, her grief, her unrelenting drive, and the ripple effects of Taylor’s legacy.
