Blind Momentum follows writer, speaker, and rare disease advocate Laura King Edwards as she attempts to break the record for the fastest blindfolded half marathon by a woman — ten years after first running blindfolded in honor of her sister Taylor.
The feature documentary explores grief, endurance, advocacy, and the complicated process of continuing forward after profound loss.
— THE STORY
In 2006, Laura’s younger sister Taylor was diagnosed with Batten disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder that gradually took away her ability to see, walk, and speak.
Over the years, Laura and her family became advocates for Batten disease awareness and research, helping raise significant funding and support for affected families.
After Taylor’s passing in 2018, Laura was left navigating the complicated reality of grief, identity, and purpose after years of advocacy centered around her sister’s life and care.
Now, following major reconstructive ankle surgery and nearly a decade after her first blindfolded race, Laura is attempting to break the record — not simply as an athletic challenge, but as a continuation of the promise and purpose that shaped her family’s journey.
Blind Momentum documents that process in real time, capturing both the physical demands of training and the emotional complexity beneath it.

Tice Studios is leading the full creative execution of the feature documentary from development through post-production.
Our work includes creative development, fundraising support, production planning, cinematography, sound recording, editing, color, sound design, and original score development.
The film has been captured across multiple locations and live events using an approach focused on emotional honesty, observational storytelling, and visual restraint.
Throughout the process, the goal has remained the same: create a film that feels deeply human first — allowing advocacy, endurance, and impact to emerge naturally through lived experience.

While still in post-production, Blind Momentum has already begun building an engaged audience around the film and its broader mission.
The documentary is designed to support ongoing awareness for Batten disease while opening larger conversations around grief, resilience, caregiving, endurance, and purpose after loss.
Most importantly, the film preserves not only the scale of Laura’s challenge, but the emotional reality beneath it — honoring both Taylor’s legacy and the complicated nature of continuing forward after loss.
